What you'll do

Discover the joy of crafting your own stunning silver ring adorned with vibrant stones alongside artist Shirley Wu. In this beginner-friendly workshop, delve into the fun experience of silver-clay and stone setting. Get hands-on as you mold silver-clay, creatively set stones using tools, and craft a beautifully organic ring. Experiment with heat-resistant stones, such as cubic zirconia and spinel, to create your unique piece! Your ring will be then fired and polished in Shirley’s home studio and will be ready to pick up near Marion or CBD within 3-5 working days. Due to the cost of hiring space, class no more than 2 participants maybe cancelled or rescheduled. Private class inquiries are warmly welcomed. Knowledge required Beginner-friendly class. What you'll get • A handmade silver ring with colourful stones! • Knowledge of silver-clay and simple hand stone setting • The jewellery piece will be ready for collection in 3-5 working days or in post with extra cost What to bring Please bring your reading glasses for delicate stone setting If you are making a ring for your love one, please bring one of their ring for measurement, paper or tape measuring method can be unreliable. Everything else is provided. Meet Our Artist Shirley Jianzhen Wu, an emerging artist from China, now based in Adelaide, completed her Master of Design (Contemporary Art) at the University of South Australia in 2019. Her diverse practice includes jewellery, object making, glass sculpture, performance, video, and installation work. Influenced by holistic training in Hong Kong, Wu's art explores her cross-cultural identity and migration journey. She has received several awards, including the Pilchuck Glass School Scholarship (2024) and the City of Adelaide Arts and Cultural Quick Response grant (2023). Wu was also a finalist for the Fuse Glass Prize (2022) and MilanoVetro-35 in Milan (2020).
