What you'll do
Looking for a unique and relaxing creative experience? Come and try soy resist dyeing, a traditional technique reimagined in a simple and fun way. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to use specially prepared soy paste to block dye from certain areas of the fabric. Once dyed, your design will reveal soft colour gradients and beautifully defined patterns with crisp negative space, making every piece completely unique. No experience needed. The process is easy, satisfying, and surprisingly relaxing. We provide hundreds of templates for you to explore and combine, including animals, botanicals, florals, text, and a mix of modern and traditional styles. With step-by-step guidance from our instructor, you’ll create your own personalised textile piece from start to finish. This technique is inspired by traditional resist dyeing practices from ethnic minority cultures in Guizhou, China, thoughtfully adapted into an accessible and creative experience. It’s suitable for all ages and perfect whether you’re coming with friends, on a date, or enjoying some solo creative time. It’s also a fantastic choice for hens' parties, birthdays, baby showers, and team-building events, offering a fun, memorable, and hands-on group activity.
